2.4.2 EVIRNET Site Survey

Right click over the ZonarCom 3™ tray icon and select 'Tools -> EVIRNET Site Survey'. The EVIRNET™ Site Survey tool allows a scan of all EVIRNET Vehicle Mounts to test how many radio retries it takes to reach any given asset.

(Zonar EVIRNET™ Site Survey)

First, select the assets you wish to scan by selecting them in the 'Assets' list, and clicking the 'Add ->' button.

Now, set the minimum number of retries to test for, and the maximum retries to test for.

Start the survey by clicking the 'Run Survey' button. The tool will first set the base radio to the minimum retries to start with, and will then scan through the list of selected assets to see what the lowest number of retries (from the min/max range selected) each asset in the list can be "seen" with, if any.

The results can be helpful by showing the maxumum number of retries that are needed to reach every asset that was selected. If any assets are in the "Not Found" branch of the results, increasing the maximum retries for the survey may help. If all assets can be seen withing a retry number that is not greater than the max retries, then the highest retry count that was needed to reach any assets may be used to adjust the standard retry count in the Base Station Radio settings.

NOTE: If you wish to test a radio individually (perhaps it is not in the asset list yet, or you want to trouble-shoot a radio, etc.), you may click the checkbox labeled 'Manual radio addr:', and then enter the radio transceiver ID in the edit box next to it. In this mode, the site survey will simply test that single radio to determine the minimum number of retries it takes in order to communicate with it reliably.

2.5.0 Configuration

Right click over the ZonarCom 3™ tray icon and select 'Settings -> Configuration'. A dialog will be displayed allowing various configuration settings to be customized.

      • The customer id issued to you by Zonar Systems, Inc.
    • Upload Password: (required)
      • The upload password issued to you by Zonar Systems, Inc.
    • Upload Location: (required)
      • Location of the PC running this application. This location field is stored with each report, and can be used later to pull up the location of the PC that uploaded a given report, or to identify where a report with an error condition was uploaded from.
  • Device Settings (section)
    • Port: (dropdown list)
      • A list of the available communications ports on the computer system.
    • Auto Detect (button)
      • Used to automatically detect a Zonar Systems® device. See description for RDS and Radio.
    • RDS (Serial Cradle)
      • If an RDS device is used for communication with the 2010 handheld reader, this option must be selected. Make sure the RDS is connected properly and place a 2010 (turned on) in the RDS and click on the 'Auto Detect' button to find the communications port that the device is connected to.
    • Radio (Wireless)
      • If an EVIRNET™ radio base station is used for communication with the 2010 handheld reader, this option must be selected. Make sure the radio base station is connected and powered up properly, click on the 'Auto Detect' button to find the communications port that the device is connected to.
    • EVIRNET GPS Settings (button)
    • Use Safety Messages (checkbox)
      • This option allows the 2010 handheld reader to be updated with the latest safety message information that has been entered through the Zonar-Web interface. The safety message will be displayed on the startup screen of the 2010 handheld reader when it is turned on. While ZonarCom 3™ is running it will retrieve the safety message from the customer specific database every 15 minutes, also when the 'Store Config' button is selected the safety message information will be retrieved.
    • Enable 2010 Shutdown (checkbox)
      • If this option is checked the 2010 will be shutdown automatically after it has been serviced. If you do not want the 2010 to be shutdown after being serviced, uncheck this option.
    • Ignore processed 2010 for [___] minutes. (textbox)
      • If the device type is "Radio (Wireless)", and "Enable 2010 Shutdown" is not checked, you may enter a value into this edit box. After reports are downloaded from a 2010 over the EVIRNET™ wireless network when "Enable 2010 Shutdown" is not checked, the EVIRNET™ Radio Tracker technology in ZonarCom 3™ will not try to talk to that 2010 again for the number of minutes specified here.

NOTE: "In Yard" and "Not In Yard" tracking of EVIRNET™ Vehicle Mount radios will not be affected by this, as they are constantly tracked, regardless of the value entered here.
    • Out of range confirm count: [___] (textbox)
      • If the device type is "Radio (Wireless)", you may adjust the value of this counter. After the Radio Tracker determines that an asset is out of range for this number of successive times through the list of EVIRNET™ assets, that asset is changed to a status of "Not In Yard". If vehicles are marked "Not In Yard" when they should not be, increasing this value may help.
  • Software Settings (section)
    • Anonymous Uploads (checkbox)
      • This option allows a single ZonarCom 3™ station to be able to download reports off of a 2010 handheld reader and upload it to the correct customer specific database. Example: A customer has 2010 handheld readers for trucks and forklifts, but the truck reports are located in a separate database than the forklifts, this option will allow reports from each reader to be downloaded off of the same computer workstation and uploaded into the correct customer specific database.
    • Auto-load Reports (checkbox)
      • Uncheck this option to prevent the ZonarCom 3™ application from automatically uploading reports to your EVIRSOFT™ web account, and instead queue the report files on the local computer. When this option is checked, report files are automatically uploaded to your EVIRSOFT™ account.
    • Load At Windows Start (checkbox)
      • Check this option to have the ZonarCom 3™ application start when a user logs in, leave this option unchecked to not have the application start when a user logs in.
    • Enable Error Sounds (checkbox)
      • Play audible error alerts based on the audible error notification behavior that is selected below. Uncheck this option if no audible error alerts are desired. Most logged error messages are logged to the Error Status window at the level of "warning" internally, and do not generate an audible alert. Audible alerts are generated for Internet connectivity problems, invalid customer/password errors, and serious internal program errors. Errors such as invalid driver ID, invalid asset ID, etc., are logged as warnings, and do not generate audible error alerts.

      • Play error sound on each error (radio button)
        • Play an audible error notification every time an error occurs.
      • Play error reminder sound (every [_____] minutes, only if new unviewed errors) (radio button)

    • Asset Tracking (checkbox)
      • When checked, asset tracking data is collected from assets as they depart and return, and the data is sent to the asset tracking logs for each asset on the web site. To disable this feature, simply uncheck this option.

      • Assets must be "out" for at least [_____] minutes before being counted "in" again (textbox)
        • Do not count any asset as being "IN" until it has been "OUT" for at least the number of minutes specified.
